Question
Hi,
Ive had this pony for around 7 months and even though shes never liked cantering , she would ususally do it. She is such a sweet pony never bites ,kicks, and loves being with people, but barges out of the stable, lately while im riding her shes fine but if i try to canter her she has a bucking fit until i stop kicking. Ive tried everything but she now knows who the riding instructors are at my farm and canters beautifully around them,so they think  thers no problem.Have you any ideas on what to do with this sly pony? or is ther something wrong with her????

Answer
Dear Maria,
GOUND WORK!! Go over her ground work again, from the start, This will help her with barging from the stable. You must teach her that you are the one in command not her. re-train her in ground lessons, YOU must be the one to do this or she will not respect you.
For the bucking problem, if you have tried everything i suggest a martigale, they stop the horses head from coming up a desired level. A horse first raises there head before they buck, but not all horses. But you must start slow with the martingale, mose horses do not like it, and if you tie it up to tight right away she will probably freak out. START SLOWLY then work your way up.
If this fails, You should ride her into a canter, and if she bucks, you MUST keep telling her to canter. IF you stop kicking her to go faster she will know that she has won the argument. You are telling her that she is the boss by giving in to what she wants. If you can't stay on her while she bucks, find someone who is experianced and can stay on the pony.
