Question
i have just resently bort a 15 yr old gelding but he has a tiny bit of arthritis will my two kids 13, 10 and i still be able to ride him for a nother yr or two.

Answer
Dear Megan

You need to chat with your vet about this.  It depends on how severe his arthritis is.  If he is just a little stiff when getting up from laying down or early on a cool morning, just let him warm up slowly. You may want to wait until later in the day to ride or move his paddock to a spot that gets some sun.  How severe his arthritis is must dictate how he is ridden.  I've seen lots of horses with a bit of arthritis continue for many years.  They might be a bit stiff in the morning, but after a laze about in the sun, they are ready to rock n' roll.  Have your vet assess him.  There are also some amazing drugs on the markets that really help with equine arthritis.  Your vet needs to look and him and discuss the options.

Good Luck.
