QuestionI have a hackney pony about 7 years old. I have noticed her sort of dragging her right back hove or picking it up higher than her left in a sort of jerking motion. Some one told me that this was due to a nerve problem that sometimes trotters or racking horses have. I was wondering what the problem might be.
AnswerHi Spring.
I'm not a vet, but I do think your pony needs to see one. Does your pony ever lose her balance when she picks her affected foot up "higher than her left?" I am concerned that it could be a neuromuscular disease, suck as EEV or EPM.
Here are a couple articles for you to read:

Best of luck! I hope it turns out to be nothing serious.
