Jelly-like substance

We have a read ear slider we purchased about 2 weeks ago. I noticed it has a jelly-like substance around his neck and face area. What does this mean? I hope it's not serious.

Guessing, I would say that it is either shedding skin that is not releasing, mold, algae, or something similar. I am just not sure based on your description.

I would recommend trying the forum at http://www.turtleforum.com and see what the experienced keepers there say. The format there is better for a more interactive give and take.
