Questionare red ear sliders and map turtles similar?
AnswerIn some ways. They can usually be housed together and fed the same basic diet, although in the wild, the Sliders are pond turtles- still, slightly warmer water with a diet of foods that like such habitats- worms, insects, etc.
Maps tend to prefer rivers- cooler, moving water, with a diet of things that also like riverine conditions- more shellfish and crustaceans, etc.
Sliders generally get bigger, and tend to be more aggressive- almost territorial (but not really- they just need lots of space.)
They are different genera (Graptemys for maps, Trachemys for sliders), and so would be unlikely to ever cross-breed.
