can red eared sliders live in same pond as western painted?

Question
A friend wants to give us his western painted turtle and want to know if it can live with our red eared slider? We have an outdoor pond.

Answer
As long as the pond is big enough... usually there is not a problem, but big turtles often pick on smaller ones if resources or space is limited- and sometimes for no reason at all. Most often, the larger Red-ear is the bully.

To put it another way- it should be fine, but keep an eye out for signs of bullying just in case.
