white stuff in tank

I just got my RES turtle about 2 months ago and I've been doing really good on keeping up with maintainence and everything but recently a white-ish, almost looks like cotton ball material, started to form in the tank. It floats around in the water and I was just wondering what this could possibly be.

White foam is usually caused by proteins in the water, and protein comes from left over food or waste products.

You may wish to think about boosting the filtration.
