Aggressiveness in turtles...

Question
Hi, I've had my first RES for about 2 years now and recently got another one last week, which is much smaller than the first one I have. I didn't notice any problems between the two of them until today, I saw that the older one actually bit at the smaller one a few times. Is there anything I can do to "teach" him that's wrong? Or do I have to separate them? I'm worried that the smaller one will get hurt.

Answer
Red-ears are an aggressive species to each other, and you have two basic choices- separation, or a BIG habitat. By big, I mean 10 gallons of actual water per inch of shell length total. Considering that Red-ears can hit 10", this means a large tank- especially for two.
