water dragon dancing

Question
I am almost certain that I have a male and female Water dragon.  For the past few months the male has been bobbing his head, waving his arms, twitching his tail, and his crest stands tall.  I assumed it was a mating dance.  My female would run around frantically.  Now she is doing it as well and the male runs frantically.  Is this a mating dance or territorial?  Does it mean I have two males?  Also I can not get them to eat and kind of roughage, lettuce, carrots, etc.  Is that o.k.?

Answer
Hello Tabitha, can I ask how long your dragons are from Snout tip to tail tip? If they are at least 18 inches then I can sex them for you with pictures of their underside near the vent and back legs. Email pics if you want to yexalen@gmail.com (don't worry about using my email I made this email specifically for this reason)

It could be either or, you never really can tell unless he is under sexual age. If he is less tehn 18 inches then most likely dominant behavior. If you see any licking or biting then that is dominant and they should be separated. If it is a slow arm wave and calm then its submissive, if its a fast arm wave then its dominant and not so good.

Keep an eye on it so it doesn't get aggressive. If you are concerened then get me some "gender Pics" and I can let you know if you have a couple males. Or separate them now anyways because even a male female can be territorial.

If your dragon does not like greens or fruits or any kind of vegetation that is ok and perfectly normal. I have two male water dragons. One loves fruits and veggies and the other dislikes it completely and they are both healthy adults and separated by the way. But its fine and many dragons dont like greens. If you don't feel they have the correct diet then you can buy supplements or special cricket dust. (This is sold at most pet stores)

Let me know how it goes, also I would like to invite  you to a forum that I visit regularly. The Water Dragon section is great with lots of helpful people including me. I am in charge of a weekly photo contest and love to share pictures so come on by the site and introduce your dragons love to see you there, here is a link to the site
