Bahaman Anoles and Long-tailed Lizards

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I'm looking to get some long-tailed lizards for my little sister (she adores reptiles) and today I was in PetSmart getting some extra things for them to climb on when I spotted a tiny Bahaman Anole. I know everyone says not to buy them at PetSmart but they only just got it in so it should still be okay. I was curious to know if you know how to sex a Bahaman anole at that age, if it would be okay housed with a couple of Long-tailed lizards (the cage is over 100 gallons so they'll have tonnes of room), and if there were any important things I should know (I've researched all I can, but it seems you can never know enough).
Thank you!

ANSWER: Hello Nirah,

Well, I normally do not recommend mixing species.  They could cross contaminate worms or parasites, but they are quite a bit alike.
They will be roughly the same size, & their basking temps are around
85-88 or so.
One thing you will need to make sure you don't have 2 males in the tank though that is not recommended.
If they are old enough, you may see femoral pores on the inside of the thigh of males.  Otherwise, you will need to try to lift the tail to see if you can see lateral bulges on each side, indicating a male.
That is a huge tank, so maybe you could have 2 basking sites, one at each end perhaps?
You don't want them to mate, so you don't create a hybrid so learning the sex of them will be very important.

QUESTION: Thanks for the info :) I've also looked everywhere trying to find out how to sex Long-tailed Lizards and I can't seem to get a straight answer. I didn't think that Anoles and Long-tailed Lizards could breed but now that you've mentioned it, it's a pretty worrying thought! How can I tell if the Long-tailed Lizards are male or female?

Answer
Hello Nirah,

Yeah, I know.  Usually, different species don't attempt to breed, & most of the times their genes would not be compatible enough to be successful anyway.
However, they are of the same size & are somewhat similiar so it is best not to stress them in that manner.  It is never wise to house 2 males together regardless of what species it is.
If you will post pictures of your long tailed lizards, by showing the ventral side (belly towards me) & by lifting the tail up gently, so we can see if there are any bulges on the lateral sides of the base of the tail.
