Question
my female rabbit is 5 months old, and ive just bought a male rabbit who is about 2 months old, and they have been mating, is it possible for my rabbit to be pregnent at this age? and should i remove the male from the female?

Answer
It is possible for the rabbit to be pregnant. Definitely remove the male for two reasons. Especially for a novice rabbit owner, it is good to wait until a female is 6 months old (if she is a small or medium sized breed; 8 months if she is a large or giant sized breed) to breed her. A male can be fertile as soon as his testicals drop and he understands how to mate, though usually it is best to wait until around 4 months to breed (just in case the female is aggressive toward his advances, so he has a better idea how to deal with things).

Also, if she already is pregnant, keeping her in with him can be dangerous for her and the litter. Rabbits can get pregnant with two different litters, and if they are different ages, one or both litters and/or the mother could end up dying.
