Question
My rabbit was due to have her vaccinations in may, but she got a skin infection and i decided to wait till she was well.  I booked the appointment then she had molar spurs and lacerated her tongue when the vet was trying to view her teeth.  that was sorted but she had lost such alot of weight I again decided to wait.  I'm wondering when is the best time to book the appointment again as I don't want to do it before she is strong enough to cope.
Thanks.

Answer
Dear Emma,

I'm not sure how long a myxomatosis or VHD vaccine lasts, but the longer you wait, the more chance there will be of her immunity to the two viral diseases waning.  She still probably has some residual protection, but a booster is important.

That said, a healthy animal is less likely to suffer adverse side effects from a vaccination than one who is compromised.    I would consult with your vet, perhaps have bloodwork done, and then judge if she's well enough for her stick.  :)

It all depends on the individual rabbit, and since I can't see her, it's hard for me to judge.   I'll leave that to you and her veterinarian.

Hope that helps.
