Question
I have a mini rex and he lived out side for a year and now lives inside. And at night all he does is scratch and digg, so I was wondering about that that.
And he always seems to have his ears down and run away when I go to pick him up, but once I have in in my arms he doesn't try to hop down. And if I lay on the floor with him he will come put his front paws on me and look around. But when ever I look at him in his cage and stuff it just always seems like his ears are down and his nose is wiggling and he is breathing fast. So I guess what my question is is if he is happy?
And he also has been sneezing a lot.

Answer
Dear Rachel,

Rabbits often like to be active at night, so his digging is likely his way of playing.  If he's confined to a very small area, then he might be frustrated and digging to show his displeasure.  If so, consider rabbit-proofing the house:

so he can have free run.  That will likely reduce his stress and keep him very happy.

It's also wise to have him neutered to reduce his sexual frustration.  Once that's done, he can be allowed to choose a spayed mate from the bunnies at your local rabbit rescuer:

so he won't be so bored.  Two rabbits are actually less work than one, since they entertain each other and tend to be less destructive than a lonely, bored rabbit.

Hope that helps.
