Question
CAN POTBELLIED PIGS AND GOATS LIVE HAPPILY TOGETHER?

Answer
Pigs and goats are very different animals and speak different "languages". Goats and pigs can spend some time during the day together in an open barnyard. They will need separate sleeping and eating areas and they need to be able to retreat to those areas during the day for naps or to escape a potential dangerous skirmish.

Most pigs will not start fights with the goats (there are always exceptions), the problem is usually the goats. Goats like to butt each other, and may try to butt the pigs and then the problems start. It seems that the smaller the breed of goat, the more likely they are to butt the pigs or start fights with them. The bigger breeds of goats show less interest in the pigs.

The separate feeding areas are essential, because goats and pigs should be eating different kinds of food. They will try to steal the others food and they will fight over food.
