Question
My pig is approx 6 months old and she's pregnant. I noticed this evening while feeding them, my 2 great nieces were in the pen with me playing and chasing them. I stopped them when i noticed they were running the pigs around. After a few minutes and glanced in the barn and saw this preg pig. I watched her a few minutes when i saw her heave like to throw up and she did some slobbering or heavy drooling. Is that something preg pigs do, or is it something the girls caused, or is something else wrong. I'm pretty sure she has to b getting close to her due date. Please Help.

Answer
Hello,
Unfortunately if your Pot bellied pig is only 6 months old it is unfortunate that she is pregnant so young.  They really shouldn't be bred until they are close to a year old.  Then she  would be well over a year before hr litter is born.  She isn't even full grown yet and won't be until she is at least three years of age.
If she is as far along as you think she is that means she had to be bred when she was only a few months old.  Females don't usually come into heat for the first time until they are five or six months old and then the gestation period is 3 months 3 weeks and 3 days.

Please separate her from the male so if she isn't already pregnant she won't get that way at her age.  There are so many unwanted pet pigs out there now it is a shame to have a careless and unwanted litter.
Children should not be allowed to chase pigs....especially pregnant ones who are trying to eat!
