Question
QUESTION: Hello again :P
Lily's tail is dry, can i use vaseline on it?
im not sure cause thats a product thats tested on animals... :S

ANSWER: Hi

Is Lily hairless too?

You can use olive oil on the tail...and if she licks it,even better...since its good for dry skin all over. If it doesnt seem to help, try the vaseline, but thin layers since its thick and the rats tail is used to adjust body temp (as well as aid in balance)

If she is hairless like your other rat, you can rub her with olive oil. It is SO good for their skin and makes them feel like warm buttery soft leather (if she is hairless, that is) of course if she is furred it will  just make a mess. :p

QUESTION: Nope, Lily has hair. and its really rough because sh has dry skin to. so ill try that olive oil on her tail. and is she like a dog, cause i know that if you put olive oil in the dogs food and they eat it it will make the fur soft, do u think the rats fur will do the same thing?
thank for the help!! :)

Answer
Yes it does help dry skin and also her fur too.

I have heard some people put a bit of it on a cracker too, which is a good idea but I always worry about choking.  Here I am, a rat consultant, and I am terrified of choking when it comes to these guys!
Peanut butter is lethal and I have seen that first hand (not my own, but sadly, a patient) and gooey breads etc....so just to warn you...not to make you or any other reader paranoid though.  Oh, and noodles...cooked noodles can get stuck in their throats, too.

Not sure why I brought that up...I guess thinking about the olive oil on a cracker!
