Question
Hi Sandra

Ive just called my vets (Seers Croft, Faygate, UK) who said last time i took them he gave them a drug called Dectomax with an active ingredient Doramectin. He said they need to come back for another injection, however the first made no difference at all so am reluctant. I asked about Stronghold (Revolution in the US) and he said its not suitable for furries - even though Dectomax is licensed for Cattle and Sheep!!!!!!!!!! They said there is an over the counter drug i can try called Xeno 450 which contains Ivermectin. However reading on a website it says only for use with rabbits and ferrets. Guess i need to find another vet!!!

Answer
Yeah they are Crazy that its not suitable for rats.  ARGH!  I HATE that when these vets say that stuff.  Ivermectin is the COUSIN of selemectin..HELLO!

I can give you three sites that list revolution as part of the treatment in rats with mites/lice if you want to shove it...err...show it to the vet.   LOL
