Sores on my rats tails

Question
I have two male rats. Recently they have been getting small red blotches on the front side of their tails. I also noticed that they sneeze frequently and it also looks like they shiver. I don't know if they are just cold or if this is serious. They are both about one and a half years old, and i give them bedding made of straw ( it come in the form of pellets)

Answer
Sometimes rats can develop an infection on their tail. Try using a dab of neosporin three times a day for now, but I am going to suggest a vet anyhow because of the sneezing.
Also, if they sneeze and and shiver, they may be developing mycoplasmosis. The straw they are on isnt that good for rats because it can attract parasites and there are reports that sometimes the straw has poked them in the eyes and caused them to lose eyes. If they have been on the same straw all of their lives I dont think its causing them to sneeze if they just started sneezing recently, though, which is why it wouldnt hurt if they went to the vets for a check up. If you need a vet that is good with rats, let me know and I can help.
