Rats! post-op swelling

Hi there,

My darling rat Kusschen has just had a mammary tumour removed last Wednesday and i've noticed swelling around the wound where the tumour was...i have done some research on swelling and some things say its not much of a big deal and that it will go down and others say its quite serious? im just worried about her and want to make sure she's ok. what do you suggest?

Swelling when not accompanied with fever, heat from the incision, extreme redness or discharge really truly is not a huge deal and I wouldn't worry about it. However if it begins to "weep" or redden considerably, you need to call your vet. Good luck, and I hope she feels better soon!
