injured rat !!

Question
My rat cage was left open, and my best guess is that my newly adopted kitten got a hold of it.  I didn't know it had been out of the cage, and when it heard my voice it came hobbling over to me on the floor.  I picked her up and inspected her body.  She has no open wounds, just some scratches here and there, but she definitely looks injured.  Her spine seems stuck in an arched position, and she is hobbling about, like there is an injury to her left side.  Right behind her ribs there is a small indentation.  When I put her back in the cage, I helped her to drink some water, which she drank steadily for a minute or two.  I gave her some food, and she is eating.  Her eyes remain squinted, half shut and she is curled up in their nest in the back corner of the cage.  It is Christmas and I cannot get her to the vet today.  Is there anything I can do to better her chances of surviving before I can survey the damage by a doctor?  Please help.  Ashley.

Answer
Being that she is arched may simply be due to fear but its hard for me to know the origin of her injuries without being able to examine her first.  She could have internal injuries from falling etc...

The vet that you see MUST be an exotic  specialist so he or she knows what they are doing. She needs films taken etc... if you need a vet please let me know and I will find one but hopefully you do and she is on her way first thing in the morning. Some vets are closed even the day after Christmas which means we need to find an ER vet that sees exotics.
