Quarentine

Question
umm i use carefresh bedding???

Any who i own 2 female dumbo rats at home in a very large cage right now.. the cage used to have 3 rats until one of my older girls passed away from a nasty cold..

I've been looking into getting more rats, the cage i have comfortably fits 3 adult rats and could probably fit 4 as the maximum..

When i get the new rat i understand it will have to be in quarentine for at least 3 weeks or soo.

My question to u is

- If i just buy 1 rat will it be okay to quarentine alone for the 3 weeks?

I  understand that rats are very social and often need the company of other rats along with the attention given to them by their owners..

I would like to just buy 1 rat but if the quartine period will be to lonely for the 1 rat i might just end up getting 2.

-For these quarentine situations would 2 rats be better then 1?

I will be adding my new rat to the cage containing the 2 females at teh end of the 3 weeks.

Answer
Hello!

The rat will be okay alone for 3 weeks quarantined. The rat will not have any ill effects or anything. It is up to you if you want to have one rat quarantined or two. If you really just want to buy one rat and you know your cage will comfortably fit 3 then I would buy one rat and quarantine the one rat for 3 weeks.

Happy New Year!
