discoloration on rat testicle

Question

discoloration my rat has a dark discoloration on one of his testicles (which are normally pink). the bit of hair on his testicles is not gone, so I don't think it's mange, but I am not sure what it could be. It doesn't look healthy. I have a photo (albeit blurry, taken with my cellphone) that I have attached. I am in southern vermont, if that helps in finding a vet.

Rats dont normally get mange. Is there a lump under the dark spot? This may be a testicular abscess, its not easy to see from the photo.

My geography stinks, so I am to assume your within a close proximity to
Western Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and northern Connecticut?

It would be easier to narrow it down some so I can find the nearest exotic vet for your rat because he needs seen ASAP.
