Question
My 12 month old female rat bites me when she's annoyed or dosen't whant to see me. It only started to happen after there had been disturbances in the room such as loud nioses. She's always been a nervy rat unlike her adventurous sister. Half the time she'd Ok especially when her sisters around. But she's bitten me loads of times and once drew blood. I really need some advise on the matter.

Answer
When a rat begins to bite there isn't a lot that can be done.  It's likely she wasn't properly socialized as a youngster and if she is nervous or scared she has chosen to fight rather that run.  It's most likely simply her personality and there's not much you can do to change that.  All you can really do is continue to handle her, avoiding loud or stressful situations.

Sometimes rats will grow cage aggressive, meaning that they feel protective of their cage and will bite when someone tries to take them out.  If this is the case you may want to let her come out on her own.  Mostly these rats are fine with being handled once they are out of the cage, so if that is the way she behaves that is most likely the cause.

It may also be a good idea to have a vet check her out, as rats that grow suddenly aggressive may be in pain from some kind of ailment.

All I can tell you is to keep trying, handle her gently, and make sure the room is calm and quiet before doing so.  Hopefully she will come around!  Good luck!
