How long before using Revolution after Ivermectin?

Question
Hello,

Two of our five boys (ranging 7 months, to 1 year 10 months) recently began showing signs of a mite outbreak after we switched to a bag of Carefresh that we forgot to freeze ahead of time (rather, we did freeze one of the bags but used the wrong one when we cleaned the cage).

Our leftover mauve package of Revolution (2 vials left) was 8 hours away at our home in Idaho, and a bath with tea tree oil mixed in baby shampoo only helped for a couple days before the itching started to return.  Our other 3 boys have also been showing some minor signs of mites as well.

Unfortunately, being so far away from our vet and leftover Revolution, and it being nearly impossible to get Revolution quickly without a prescription (and not having money for a vet trip right now), we ended up breaking down and trying Ivermectin horse paste (1.87% I believe) on Friday (today being Sunday).  It worked a little bit and has somewhat relieved the symptoms but it's clearly not doing the job that Revolution does and the effects already appear to be wearing off.

This past weekend I had a chance to drive back home, so I picked up the Revolution and brought it back with me.

Question is, how long should we wait before we try the Revolution after having used Ivermectin?  I googled around a bit and didn't find anything solid.

Thanks for your help!

Answer
Nah, I wouldn't worry much about the ivermectin paste you used, to be honest.  My boss cringed when I told him that this "recipe" goes around rat websites and people use it to treat their rats.  Think about it....using something meant for a HORSE used on a rat, and safety is not really an issue with this?   I would be terrified to use it....however, after going over the directions, the chance that your rat even got any ivermectin to be worthy of worrying about mixing with revolution is, well, nothing to really worry about.  To be safe, I would not use it the same day, but if you used it on Friday, Monday should be just fine to use the revolution. I assume you know the safe and proper dose for the revolution and your ratties but if your not sure, feel free to ask.
People ask me about home remedies such as the tea tree oil, and because I am not really one for home remedies, I never knew what to say if it worked or not..usually they DO NOT work and it only prolongs things, like putting off proper treatment  (not in your case, mind you,   since your case was different) but many people will try other things first before using the appropriate treatment, wasting not only money but time as well.  So now that I have not only your testimony that the tree tree oil only worked for a short time, others have said the same thing too, so I can safely tell people NOT to try it? I am asking your opinion of it so I dont sound like a nit wit if it indeed works and I am over here telling people not to use it. Trust me I  would prefer something more natural like tea tree oil than to use a pesticide like selemectin, but if its a waste of time, I wont suggest its use.
