shrieking cockatiels

Hi Maggie,

I have 2 cockatiels, the first a 3yr old female, the second a 4 month old female. We intitally started having problems with the 1st cockatiel when we found that she shrieked persistently (often for hrs on end)if you weren't in the same room as her. We had her out of the cage often, yet were concerned that perhaps she was getting lonely while we were at work during the day. As a result, we got our second bird.  The first has stopped shrieking altogether, but now the second has started! She gets extremely distressed whenever we  go out of sight. What are we doing wrong?!
