Getting rid of silverfish

Question
How do I get rid of silverfish with my parrots in the house?  I have heard diatomaceous earth and borax.  Are these safe and in what quanities. I guess I need a complete directions, as in how much of what and how to administer.

Silverfish are usually founf in damp areas, so the first step would be to find out where the nest is, and to dry it out.
As far as the chemicals, I would not trust them around the birds.  There are still fumes, no matter how little you use, and this can be fatal to your birds.  You can call an exterminator, such as Orkin, and have them come out and try to get rid of the silverfish.  They have knowlege of what can and can't be used around birds.
