cockatiel loves towels

Question
Your question was

Our cockatiel has a thing for towels!  Any towel left out in the kitchen will attract his attention to the point that he will not stop singing to it and will return to the towel over and over.  We do not capture him with a towel.  He has bitten my wife a couple of times when she moved the towel to put it away.  My wife actually is his favorite!  He also acts out when we are doing the laundry and to a lessor extent with blankets.  He is becoming such a pest about it that my wife wants him gone!  Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanx,

Answer
Hi, JP.  Thanks for posting!

Your tiel is obsessed with fabric!  Some parrots have things for mirrors, some for their food dishes, some for particular toys, some for their humans, etc.  The basic solution is to keep towels away from him if it's becoming a problem or give him his own towel to do with what he wants.  If you want to break him of this habit, keep fabrics away from him (or keep him away from the laundry when you are doing it, etc.).  Try to get him interested in something else, like a new toy, perhaps a small stuffed animal (maybe he enjoys the softness or nice smell).  However, just make sure whatever you provide is safe for your bird.

If this doesn't work, come back and we'll try something else.
