Bearded Parakeet

Question
I have a 3.5 year old male bearded parakeet.
He lately makes a very strange type of noise, hard to describe.
Can it be that he is looking for a mate?

Well it is hard to answer this with out hearing the sound myself but this is very likely. He could be calling for a mate. There is no need to be concerned with this, as it is just what his hormones are telling him to do. If you have a good relationship with him there would also be no need to get him a mate as he will look to you for that relationship. He is just a happy healthy guy!
