Question
I have a blue and  gold macaw can I turn my furnace down at night and during day while at work to about 65 degrees farenheight

Answer
-- That's fine.  I just recently rehomed a rescue that was living outside with nighttime temps at freezing.  Although sheltered from wind, snow and rain - this and many other exotic birds were thriving in the environment.

-- It's important to note that these birds had acclimated to this climate over time.  You can't take an indoor bird and suddenly thrust him out in the snow.

As long as your bird isn't showing any ill effects such as shivering, not moving around, going off his food or staying fluffed most of the time - he should be ok with 65 degrees.

You might want to ease into it though, to be sure.   Set the temp down a degree every-other day until you get it where you want it to be.
