feather loss in Amazons

Question
I have an 11-year-old amazon that appears healthy and unstressed, but in the last two weeks she is losing quite a few feather.  There appear to be pin feathers coming in, but she has never molted this much before at one time.

There have been no dietary changes or changes to her environment.

Thanks.

Answer
- The million dollar question is here, "What is her diet?"   Just because there have been no changes doesn't mean it's been good all along.

I can't tell you the number of people who have fed their bird seeds for 30 years and are seriously surprised when "all of a sudden" the bird is seriously ill or found lifeless.  Just like humans can eat badly for 50-60 years and "all of a sudden" they have heart disease, diabetes or cancer.   Obviously NONE of these things are "all of a sudden"

So catch me up on her diet, her environment, daily activities - all of these things are important and associated with feather health as well as overall health

Thanks,
