Questioni have mice pups which are just under 2 weeks the is 1 which is much smaller and thinner compared to the others and is having a hard time competing with the others for mothers milk. is there anything we can do to feed it another way . thank you
AnswerDear Vanesa,
Having a runt in a litter is not uncommon. If you want to help out, get an eyedropper and some KMR (kitten formula). If the pup is struggling, try holding it gently by the loose skin at the back of its head, called 'the scruff of the neck.' This is how their mom carries them. Offer it a drop at a time until it won't take any more.
I can't guarantee that the pup will accept the milk, considering how old it is and thus not used to taking milk from an eyedropper, but it's worth a try.
Good luck and good health to the little mouse!
