Baby Field Mice weaning

Question
4 days ago I found a nest of 6 baby field mice whose mother was killed. I brought them home and have been raising them based on information I have found at various websites.  So far they are doing very well and today one opened his eyes for the first time which I think puts them at about 2 weeks. So now I am having a hard time figuring out what to do next as far as food goes, frequency of feedings, and when they can pretty much care for themselves.  Can you give me information that will help me get them to maturity?

Answer
Dear Amanda,

Feedings should be every 2 hours.  Start putting crackers in the cage in about 4 days.  By age 3 weeks, give them adult food-- a mouse mix-- and perhaps some raw vegetables.  Stop offering the formula at 4 weeks.  During the last week you can stagger the feedings out to every 4-5 hours and give yourself 8 hours to sleep!  You'll need it by then.

Thank you for rescuing the babies and good luck and have fun with them!  Just be sure to separate them before 5 weeks or you might end up with more mice than you want.
