Black iguana?

Question

black
Hi,
I am not sure if I am in the right category as not very familiar with these animals. My house back onto bush and about 500m to the beach and lately I have had a big black lizard coming into my yard. Normally I wouldnt really mind but I have small dogs and a pet rabbit that like to rome free and it actually chased my rabbit in the yard.
I don't want to hurt these creatures so I was wondering if there was someway I could deter it from coming over the fence. Maybe a liquid spray that is too strong for it to smell the rabbit or something similar?
If you could help that would be fantastic!!
I attached a pic of what it looks like, I think its around 2m from head to tail.

Answer
Hi Bianca,
They are rock iguanas, or black iguanas. There is nothing that I know of that can be used to deter them 100%.  There are claims that different sprays will work for keeping them out of areas such as...

http://www.greenigsociety.org/feraligs.htm   does offer a bit more info on ideas to keep iguanas away... the hard part is that some things work, some things don't for a determined iguana.
Some people have said the sprays work, others say they haven't worked.
That is a BIG iguana!!
It would not be normal for the iguana to attack the dogs or rabbit without being provoked in most cases. They generally are folivores..eating plants, etc.
