Answer
Hi Tim,
I have a female that does the same thing every year, for the past 3-4 years.(she is now 7 yrs old) She is not nor has never been with my male. For about 4 months I have to syringe feed her which she just happens to love. She MAY pick at her greens now and then, but eats very little on her own.  For her syringe feedings I use either REP CAL adult iguana pellets that I soak and puree and add a bit of a babyfood fruit and water to it so it comes through the syringe.  On occasion I will use OXBOW Critical Care for Herbivores in the syringe.  If she looses any weight, it is very little.
She will do the normal "pig out eating" like females do in the summer/fall...then she goes to the eating less and less, then the not eating just like a gravid female does. She hasn't laid eggs in about 3-4 years though. Its like false pregnancy, for lack of a better term.   As with yours, all else is normal.  I've taken her in for xrays and there hasn't been eggs for the past 3-4 years..
I do recommend getting her eating out of a syringe...one that is designed for feeding makes it much easier.  Offering babyfood fruits will get them to eat out of a syringe easily(usually)
You may want to get her to a vet for an xray to see if she is gravid(with eggs).
I also use some complex B vitamins a few times a week on her.  I get a liquid one at Wal mart and just give her a few drops.  Vitamin B can help to boost their appetite...In the past I've taken her to the vet for a Vitamin B injection....it may take 2-3 injections for it to kick in..but..some igs it just doesn't work.
Have you seen the two igs mating at all?  Generally about 8 weeks after mating, she will lay eggs..but..if she was not ready at the time of mating, they can store the sperm for a very long time and change the time frame as to when she would lay eggs.
With your girl, all this happened when introducing her to a new ig so it makes you wonder if that actually is the main source of the problem.
So, you might want to get her in for an xray which will give you more of an idea as to if she is forming eggs..
talk to your Vet about vitamin B injections
Get her eating out of a syringe
I wish I had the magic answer for you but I am searching for it also!!! Its one of those things that we really don't know why some do what they do, other than to drive us crazy!
