Oh yea i bout the 100watt red light do i need a cover for it

ANSWER: Hi Chris,
Glad you were able to get the things for your ig.  Once you get things all set up and running as per the care sheet, you will see a major difference in your ig.  With the uvb light, your ig will most likely spend all his time under it for quite a while.  Once he starts getting his uvb needs met, he will spend a little less time under it.  If you are in an area that you are able to build a cage and get your ig outdoors in warm weather, the sun is one of the best medicines for igs.  If you plan on doing that, be sure to also provide shade.
On the red light, if you plan on using it at night, some igs don't like it and stress out.  You will be able to tell if your ig tries to hide from it.
If the bulb is exposed to where your ig can touch it, then it does need a cover.  The new covers are nice..they are a screen mesh.
What type/brand/wattage of uvb did you get?
Also, if you don't see your ig improving, then I would get that vet appointment...Please do let me know how things progress and if you have any questions, give a shout.  You also may want to join  the babyiguana group that I mentioned in the care sheet...

Answer
Hi Chris,
I am in PA so I know what the cold is too....its been horrible here all winter so far.
She may not like the red light....give it a few days to see if she adjusts.. you may have to go the the ceramic heat emitter for night time instead.

Slimline Reptile Fixture..if I remember right that comes with the 7% uvb tube...not one of the recommended good ones, but for right now it will help.
Depending on the size of your cage, your best uvb would be the mega ray or the t rex mercury vapor.  If you can order on line, its the best way to go.
With her not having proper uvb prior, I would sprinkle some calcium on her food at least 3-4 times a week....Please be sure it does not have and Phosphorus in it.... The proper way to use calcium is this..
(easiest is in a salt shaker) Mist her greens, sprinkle some calcium on the greens, if you see white clumps, you've used too much.
Too much calcium and vitamins is as bad or even worse than not enough.
Be sure to get a good thermometer so you can monitor the temperatures.  The ones that have the probe on a wire are the best as the probe can hang right in the basking area at the igs level and the other part of the thermometer can monitor the temps in another part of the cage.  You can even get ones that also monitor the humidity....  They are about 20$ at places like Wal Mart.
Igs really don't get bored..they lead very quiet, lazy lives. As long as she has some branches to climb on in different parts of her cage, and some fake plants, she will be happy.  Giving some free roam time outside the cage is also a good way for them to get exercise.
Glad you joined Babyiguana...I will see you there...  You will be getting an extensive care sheet to fill out...with it, we can make any needed corrections/suggestions to you...
