Question
i got a green ig 3 weeks ago.a 2 yr old male about 1.5 ft. since he needs proper lighting i got him a basking lamp.i use to keep him in his cage most of the time. since the past week i don't put him in the cage, he is free roam in my room as he wishes. when he used to be in the cage he sleeps at around 8 pm and wakes up as soon as the sun comes up. but now i noticed he sleeps most of the day. he wakes up in the morning, poops eats n then basks a while under the lamp or stays near the window and then goes into ma book shelf and sleeps behind the books till the next morning.he has been doing this for the past 4 days.i would say hes stays awake for roughly 4 to 5 hrs a day. i haven't  change his diet since i got him. sticking wit green leaves, vegetables n fruits.n also there are no noticeable marks of  injury or infection on his body. should i b worried bout this?  I'm totally new to iguanas so pls help me..also i would like to know if its possible to tame him at this age? hes really aggressive..I've already been bitten twice within these 3 weeks but he does let me pat him in the mornings when hes basking.would really appreciate your help.

Answer
Hello,

You need to get proper UV lighting as well, along with the basking light. Without UV lighting it is likely he will develop MBD (Metabolic Bone Disease) which can be fatal. So basking light and UV light.

What are the temperatures and humidity in the cage and how large is the cage?

Sometimes a sleepy lizard can be due to the temperatures being too cold. So I will need the temperature of his cool area, warm area, and basking spot.

I would let him be in his cage a lot more. It might be stressing him as you have not had him very long. All the new changes can stress them. Leave him be for another few weeks with the occasional "pats" that you do in the mornings. Male Iguanas are usually agressive especially during mating season. Which is in spring so right about now. Give him some space. Read up on this site:
