Question
hi, my gerbils are seriously cold and we had to keep them close to our bodies to keep them alive! the room is well ventilated and the heating is switched on and off on a regular basis. they where absolutely fine the day before this happened and where as lively as anything! they always have a fresh water supply and are fed on a regular basis. we have only had them for 2 months and i am very worried about them. can you please email me to tell me what is wrong with them and, if possible can you tell me what i can do to prevent it happening again.

       hopefully,

Answer
Hi

I have never heard of this problem but what i can suggest it to put a hot water bottle or something similar under the cage but do not have it too hot. Only put it under half of the cage so if the gerbils get too warm they can move away.

You say you feed your gerbils on a regular basis- i am not really sure what you mean by this, but gerbils should always have food in their cage-no exception so they can eat whenever they want.

Another reason you may not have thought of is that the cage may be getting too hot. This may not apply to you but if the cage is placed in direct sunlight it heats up like a greenhouse and then the gerbils can get heat stroke. If this is the case, move the cage to a different room.

OK i really hope this helps you
