Question
This weekend my husband and I are going to visit his relatives.  Its a 5 hour drive.  He has an old pick-up that has no ac.  He wants to take our 11 month old albimo ferret with us.  How can I make sure the trip is easy on him? We live in south MS where it is soooooooo hot right now. Any advice would be appreciated.

Answer
Hi thanks for your question. WELL, if his truck has NO a/c then I really must advise against taking ANY pets with you, especially a fuzzie. Ferrets can overheat really easily.

Anything over 80-85 degrees for an extended period of time is bad for them. Taking him could put him at risk of even heat exhaustion/stroke if he can't keep cool. If you want to take your ferret with you on any trips either take him in the fall/winter/spring when the temperature is not so hot, or get another vehicle that does have climate control. I'm sorry this is not the answer you are looking for, but you must think of the safety of your pet first.

Sincerely,
~sheila
