Ferretproofing

Question
I am thinking about owning a Ferret because i find them extremely cute and a lot of fun, i have don a hell of a lot of research on the animals, including books and Internet.
I live in a very large house but, apart from my bedroom, it looks like a bomb has hit it and i don't think there is anyway i can Ferretproof my house.
I have a very tidy bedroom but i have a lot of electrical equipment in my room, could this be a problem??? i would rather be able to let my Ferret run around as i am at college 5 days a week and work at weekends.
Have you any tips on how i can ferretproof my room or even the house (if thats possible)

thanks

Answer
Okay ferret proofing your home is almost an on going project. You need to block of any holes that could lead under the house or in the walls with bookshelves or something very heavy that a ferret can't move. Most ferrets wont chew on electrical wires but if you see your ferret doing this i would either put the wires in a PVC pipe so they cant bite them.
And the corners on the floor by your door where it opens, if you have carpet i would put duck tape over it cause most will scratch it to get out.
Make sure if your ferret is free roaming the house that it cannot get behind refrigerators, ovens, or washers and dryers.
Make sure you don't leave any little things down low that the ferret could take off with and steal!
And put child safety locks on the cabinets and draws cause ferrets will open them and get in!
Also if you have ferret proofed the areas you want him to roam, it doesn't totally matter if the room is dirty or tidy, just as long as its proofed! :)
Hope that helped a little and please feel free to ask any questions!
