Thinking of getting a ferret

Question
Hi, I've been doing some research on ferrets before getting one. I don't know anyone personally that owns a ferret that I can simply ask the question "would you do it again?" or "Are you totally happy you got one?" Or are they a lot more expensive than say a dog that may get sick here and there? I'm a little worried about the health issues and surgeries they may need. Any advice to a possible new owner?? Thanks in advance!

Answer
Hello, After having two ferrets I can say they cost alot to keep....vet bills can be very high higher then dogs vet billswhich is nuts and take alot more time then a dog would! ferrets get into everything can open cupboards and drawers and where there head fits they can go they often dont get along with resident dogs or cats and can kill birds/small pets or reptiles they are not yourt average pet oto keep and one must be aware of this also a single ferret requires even more time out of cage and play time with its owner since it hasnt another to keep it busy...I would not get ferrets again unless I had a specail room for them because they smell and need to be out for hours at a time and arent safe running everywhere in the house with wire and cords/cables and things to swollow accidently.
