Ferrets can live anywhere from 6-12 years, although the average seems to be about 6-8. How long they live depends on a variety of factors, such as how well they're taken care of, the amount of play and socializing they get, the quality of their food, and whether or not they develop any diseases like Insulinoma or Adrenal Disease. Most ferrets die young because they get hurt from their owner not ferret proofing their home well enough or some other accident since they are so curious and prone to get in trouble or eat something that causes a blockage.
