Female ferret heat

Question
My spayed female ferret is showing signs of heat after 3 years, so my vet(not the one who did the first surgery) had gone in to see if he could find any part of the ovary left inside, but wasn't sure he had gotten it, to hard to see. It has been 3 months and she is starting to swell again and show signs of heat. She can't go through another surgery and I don't want to lose her, she is only 3yrs old, I was told that I could take a Q-tip and stimulate her to possibly ovulate, but I don't want to hurt her, not sure how far I can go in and how would I know if it worked? I do have a fixed male that lives with her but Iam not sure he is even interested, she isn't doing anything else abnormal. My vet wants to charge me tomuch to do it for me, so if I can do it myself(I worked at a vets for 3yrs)it would be great, thank you and I pray you can help.

Sincerely yours,
Pam

Answer
My first thought it that you need to find a new vet.  If she has been spayed and is showing these signs something is wrong, probably adrenal.  If your vet didn't mention that then I would attempt to find a ferret vet.  I would not attempt to try anything else until you know for sure what is wrong.
