Question
hello,
my ferret Mylo is just almost a year old now.
So he is still kind of young. However, I feel that he has has some extreme behavior changes. He get very aggressive sometimes. When i let him out to play he doesnt like to play with anyone, he likes to be alone. If i try to pet him, or play with him he tends to bit or run away or hide. He never used to. He used to love cuddling or laying with me. He has always been lazy. Refuses to walk on a leash/harness. Doesnt like his excercise ball.I thought maybe this was because since school started up again i dont get to spend much time with him. Is there something i can do to make him more friendly again?

Answer
It depends on why his behavior changed - often behavior changes like this are medical so I first recommend a vet visit.  To rule out pain or something else that could cause aggression.  Some ferrets are just not cuddlers, at least until they are much older.  If he is getting limited play time out of his cage, then he wants to play and not cuddle.  Also remember that play for a ferret is often exploring and not necessarily interacting with you.  Once he gets a clean bill of health, research on-line information on ferret enrichment, especially by Bob Church.  These are activities and other things you can do with and for your ferret that are designed to keep the ferret happy.
