Question
my dog always growls at children how do we train him to stop

Answer
Hi Jessica,
I would start with keeping him away from children until you can do some training. First, have him observe children from far away. Like maybe a football field away. Gradually get closer and closer. Also start with calmer older children and work your way up to more wild younger children. Eventually you should be able to have a child throw treats to your dog without it growling. Have the child remain very calm and throw the treats closer and closer to their feet. Finally have the child allow a treat out of the hand. If you do a lot of practice like this, your dog will gradually adjust.
Also make sure to never leave your dog around children unsupervised. Just one bad experience with children can make your dog fearful of them for a long time.
Hope this helps!
