Puppy crying when first out of crate

Question
Hello. I have a 2 month old miniature schnauzer. I had him for about 2 weeks now. He is being trained to his kennel because my boyfriend and I both work 9-5 jobs. We go home dinner time to let him out but when we go home dinner time and after work, he spends the whole time crying. He doesn't cry to get out of his crate much and we do not let him out if he is crying. BUT when he gets out, he starts yelping, crying, peeing everywhere..and his tail is wagging for about 20 minutes! What do I do with this?

Answer
That sounds like "excitable" or "submissive" urination.  This often happens with socially inept youngsters, or older dogs that are anxious.
The object is to greet and appease you.  The first thing you want to be sure of is that he doesn't have a urinary tract infection that makes him have difficulty holding it when he's excited.  He's having to hold it a long time - puppies usually can hold their pee for about one hour longer than their age in months, so he may be unable to hold it just because his bladder isn't able to contain for that long.  Consider hiring a dog walker, just until he's old enough.  Also, read this article:
