Question
Hi,
I am a vet tech at a emergency hospital and I work overnights... 7 days on and 7 days off.  I have a 8 month old aussie named webster who has been fairly well crate trained since i got him at 5 weeks old.  I used to bring him to work with me to help with the the potty training and then he started peeing in his kennel at work even when I had just brought him inside.  So I tried leaving him at home, i do feel bad about leaving him at home because it means my weeks on work he has so spend alot more time in his kennel.  Anyway... his new thing is not having an accident while I am at work, but when i put him back in his kennel to go to bed during the day he pees.  I know he can hold it but he won't.  He starts the week out just fine, but by Thursday each week he starts peeing in his kennel while I sleep, but is able to hold it while i am at work.  Should I try bringing him to work again?  Or should I try moving his crate into my bedroom so he can see me?  I can not take having him covered in pee all the time... he is neutered I have checked a urinalysis on him and he is perfectly healthy.  Please help!!! I have tried everything I know to do.
Thanks so much for your time
Nicole

Answer
I'd probably bring the crate in the bedroom. I'm wondering if he is urinating in his sleep? You do go out with him to make sure he's eliminating, right? Feed regular meals, take water up a couple of hours before his last trip outside. And keep a journal of when he goes to help you work out his schedule. I'd have the vet look further too, for any physical abnormalities, I've heard of young dogs who have issues that cause them to "leak" during a sound sleep. Sandy Case MEd CPDT www.positivelycanine.com
