Question
we have a two year old shih tzu. he has not been neutered or obedience trained. he is a very loveable dog and we have no problems with him apart from sleeping arrangements. when we got him we lived in an apartment and had nowhere to  keep him at night apart from our bedroom. we now live in a house and have tried to start keeping him in the kitchen at night. for the past two nights he has stayed up the whole night barking and jumping up at the door trying to open it. he has badly scratched the door and ruined the door frame. we recently went on honeymoon for three weeks and thought when we came back it would be the perfect time to try and get him out of the bedroom because he had three weeks out of the bedroom. now im beginning to wonder if there has been too much of a change for him over the last few weeks.
please help

Answer
He has been well trained to sleep i the bedroom. If he was kenneled for the three weeks you can start with a crate in the kitchen.

He is stressed because he has been put out of the pack's den. He feels abondoned and unsafe. You need to obedience train him and crate train him to learn that the kitchen crate is his home, with bedding, food, treat, toy, etc. If you let him back in the bedroom to sleep, enjoy your new furry blanket.
