Catnip and dogs

Is catnip likely to be giving my dog diarrhoea? We have a number of cats and we just bought some catnip spray for their toys. We also have a dog. She's fine all day but within an hour of bringing her in at night she's whining, wanting to go to the toilet and has diarrhoea. Is there likely to be a connection?

I would not be inclined to believe that the catnip spray is causing your dog to have diarrhea, but anything is possible. There may be an ingredient in the spray that disagrees with her.

I'd be more inclined to believe that she is having some food issues OR may need a fecal check.

I'd like to know more about her routine when you bring her in at night. This will give me a bit more to work with. Also, what does she eat and when/how often. If you could write back with some follow up information, I'll do my best to try to help you figure this out.
