allergy in dog

Question
QUESTION: Our mixed breed pup (mostly hound) has red and irritated skin on her belly area and armpits. It gets very dry. But she doesn't lick her paws or pay excessive attention to the area. In other words, none of the other typical allergy symptoms that we've experienced with other dogs. We have tried Benadryl, Omega-3 oil, non-grain, non-poultry diets and none of this seems to help. I'm very concerned. Can you advise, please? Thank you.

ANSWER: What about your carpet? Flooring? Bedding? Carpet fresh? Shampoo? Carpet shampoo? Laundry detergent? Have you had her vet checked for infection? Staph?
Try those ideas and see if any help, let me know
Good luck

QUESTION: Thank you, Cindi. Mostly wood flooring and she's mostly outside. We did take her to the vet and he was sick and had a long hard day ahead of him and simply couldn't be too interested. He gave her a course of anti-inflammatories and a special food that was 33.00 for 12 pounds. Not! None helped but I think, based on your suggestion of staph, that I'll take her to a different vet. This might interest you. We had a dog with such horrible allergies, we thought, that his neck was a raw mess. This guy had us try dabbing him with a topical medicine, very potent, and I can't remember the name. The whole thing cleared up and the vet said that it wasn't allergies but some living organism under his skin. We also, by his directions, used it to treat mites on birds. Great stuff. Again, thank you so much.

Answer
Could be grass allergies. But I still wonder about staph or another skin fungus. Even yeast. I would definitely find a different vet. Period.,permanently. And I would send him a letter in writing.
Chronic staph and other skin infections real often have to be treated with long term antibiotics and steriods to stop them. You can also try washing her with some physoderm on those areas, using an anti pimple/acne medicine won't hurt, might help. Bag balm can help the dryness. As well as the supplements I suggested.
Good luck
