snapping dog

Question
We have two dogs one a purebred & the other is a rescue mutt. The mutt is the one we are having problems with. Whenever our purebred begins to get sick the mutt snaps and goes completely crazy and attacks him usually resulting in him biting through the others ear before we are able to pull him off. He used to do it when they fed near by eachother but we resolved that by having them feed completely seperate. It's really vicious and scary and only my husband has the strength to hold him down and get him off the other dog. We are not completely sure his mix - he appears to have some hound, sheppard in him, but who really knows. We are expecting a baby in a couple of months and would like to find out whats causing it before the baby comes. Also, when the dogs are alone all day there has never been any issues between them it seems he only attacks when we are around. Thanks.

Answer
what would probably be the best way of dealing with this problem is to find a trainer that comes to the house,so he or she can see the problem, then show you how to fix this, and you want this done before the baby comes

A trainer is your best bet to solving this
